Edna Squire was from Berea, Ohio and attended Berea High School. She worked at a local drug store in Berea and attended Baldwin Wallace to receive a degree in home economics. After college, she planned to teach. She was also a member of Theta Alpha Phi, the Education Club, and Alpha Kappa Sigma sorority.
